Devendra Shukla

Photograph of Devendra ShuklaDevendra grew up in Pandarbhatta village in Block Mungeli where is father was the village school master and in 1999 was elected Sarpanch.

He did a BA in economics, Sanskrit and history at Kalyan College, part of Ravi Shankar Shukla University and graduated in 1996. In 1999 he obtained a diploma in personnel management and before he joined the Jandarshan course was working in marketing.

From 1996 to 1998 he was involved in a programme organised by  the national  Ministry of Labour to check child labour and provide schools for working children.  A committee ( Jia Balsharmik Uanmulan Samati ) was set up in the district and provided low stipends (800rupees per month) to  people working on the programme. In Bhilai and adjoining areas  Devendra was teaching and  trying to encourage children to join the schools.

On the course Devendra specialized in Direction and Camera and since obtaining his diploma has been working  on the production staff of Jandarshan, Raipur. He is more interested in fiction than documentary and his long term ambition  is to be a director or lighting cameraperson on fiction films for the cinema.  In his spare time he writes Hindi poetry.
